As a big fan of the series, I visited some places myself. Here are the locations I visited:
Chiba
Chiba is the main setting of the series. Here are the locations I visited:
Chiba Station
Chiba Urban Monorail
Mio
Chibaminato Station
Chibaminato Station is the closest station to Chiba Port Park with its tower, which appeared in the anime during Yui and Hachimans first date to the fireworks festival. I really want to visit there too, but I haven’t been able to yet.
Inagekaigan Station
Chibashi Takasu Community Center
The rap battle scene that happened here is pretty memorable.
Yui’s Apartment Building
Nakatakahama Park
Sōbu High School
Kaihin Koen-dori
Inage Seaside Park
Despite the strong wind there were quite a lot of people on the beach and inside the park on the day I was there.
Walking a little northwest I reached Kemigawa Beach.
I got a strawberry milkshake.
It’s impossible to take a picture from the same angle as the anime because there is a wall in the way.
Inage Sengen Shrine (& Itsukushima Shrine)
Inage Land Bridge
Inage Land Bridge is a overpass on Kaihin Koen-Dori that crosses Route 14/357. Attached to the bottom of this road bridge is a pedestrian bridge where the confession of Hachiman Hikigaya and Yukino Yukinoshita happened.
Kaihin Makuhari Station
I’ve been to Kaihin Makuhari Station a few times, since it’s the closest station to Makuhari Messe, where I’ve attended multiple events.
Tokyo
Kasai Rinkai Park
Kasai Rinkai Park is the main location in Season 2 Episode 13.
I visited this park before doing the pilgrimage, so I only have pictures I took without reference.
I really enjoyed the park — it’s peaceful and offers a beautiful view of Tokyo Bay. You can also go birdwatching, visit the aquarium, and ride the impressive Ferris wheel. If you have the time, I highly recommend visiting, and I definitely plan to return on my next trip to Tokyo.
Funnily, the aquarium is called Tokyo Sea Life Park in English, but Kasai Rinkai Aquarium in Japanese. So my Japanese friends didn’t know what I was talking about when I told them I went to Tokyo Sea Life Park.
Yokohama
Rinkō Park
The hotel InterContinental Yokohama Grand can be seen in the background of the opening in Season 2 similar to the way it can be seen from Rinkō Park in real life. Rinkō Park is used as a stand-in for Makuhari Seaside Park.
The grass was shorter than in the anime, though.
Kyōto
At the beginning of the second season, Hachiman, Yui, and Yukino go on a school trip to Kyōto. Here are the locations they visit:
Hotel Heian No Mori Kyoto
Tenkaippin Sohon-ten
I’m not that big on Ramen, but it was good.
There’s also Tenkaippin Instant Ramen that’s quite good. I bought it a few times at my local Don Quijote.
Ryōan-ji
Arashiyama
I didn’t visit the bamboo forest this time, so I just picked an older picture. You can’t really identify the location accurately anyway.
Kiyomizu-dera
Kyoto Station
Fushimi Inari Taisha
I didn’t take a fitting photo here because I visited before this pilgrimage and was only in Kyoto for one day, this time. So here’s a slightly older image of the outer torii gate.
I didn’t get to visit Toei Kyoto Studio Park as it was closed while I was in Kyōto doing the pilgrimage.
At Mie University, where I was studying, they also sold Georgia MAX COFFEE, the one Hachiman drinks in the series. I drank it a few times. It’s quite sweet, but I liked it.
